Poppy – Umbrella Cockatoo – W40
Hello, my name is Poppy I am a beautiful Umberella Cockatoo.
My Safehouse mum is not sure of my age but I am believed to be over 12 at least. I am rather quiet for a Cockatoo and rarely scream or talk much. I do say “hello” and a couple of other words.
I love my food very much and will eat almost anything that is healthy for me, I love almonds too, my Safehouse mum uses them as treats to train me to step up.
I do live with other birds in a bird room, but I do not really like them I prefer one to one time with my Safehouse mum. I am a bit jealous when she gives the others attention and then I can get a bit naughty and very excitable as I want the attention. So, a home without birds or maybe one other would be great. A nice quiet home would be fab!
I am ok with my Safehouse dad feeding me and cleaning my cage, and I have even stepped up for him and spent time on his shoulder. Mum was shocked as I am not supposed to have liked men. If mum is around, I am not keen on him coming in the room. I need my mum time and all the attention on me. I love ripping up paper and enjoy having my wooden toys.
I would like a lady on her own or a couple to be all mine. I really am a beautiful bird anyone would be proud to have me, my love is so rewarding if you just give me the chance to get used to you and settle first.
I have been known to be a biter so need an experienced home with Cockatoo experience that would be ideal for us all. You must be someone willing to give me time to settle and trust you.
Sponsor a Bird
Sadly, many birds come to Birdline with long term medical issues. Please consider supporting one of Birdline’s birds who need extra support from the charity and their safehouse or foster to ensure they can live their best life.
