Amazon Orange Winged Amazon

About Lucy

Hello, everyone! My name is Lucy, and I'm an Orange-Winged Amazon parrot. I’m around 24 years old. I lived for a long time with an elderly couple, so I am used to a calm and quiet home. However, due to a change in their circumstances I am in need of a new place to spread my wings.

Now, let me tell you a bit about myself. I may be a bit shy at first, but once you get to know me, you'll find that I have a heart as big as my vibrant plumage. I may not be the loudest bird in the flock, but I have my moments of noisiness; especially in the mornings when I'm craving breakfast and attention. I am very much a morning bird and love having time to free roam (with supervision).

I'm a creature of habit, and I pretty much stay on my cage or in my cage unless you pick me up.  One thing you should know about me is that I'm still learning to trust and build confidence. I may not be hand-tame just yet, but with a patient and understanding companion, I know I can blossom into the perfect feathered friend. I'm working on stepping up onto hands, but so far, I only feel safe doing this when I've flown to the floor and know I'll be gently returned to my perch.

My favourite pastimes include playing with my favourite toys (though I could use a few more to keep me entertained!), munching on healthy snacks like fruits and veggies, and I really enjoy having a refreshing shower now and then.

Despite my timid nature, I have a lot of love to give to the right person or family. I may not be the most talkative bird (I can say “hello” and “peekaboo”), but I make up for it with my charming personality and delightful repertoire of sounds and whistles. As a nervous birdy I do need time and patience to learn new things, and with a lot of love and a calm and quiet environment I will thrive. I enjoy being around children, as long as they aren't too boisterous and have shown a preference for men. However, I am happy with females too. I tend to keep well clear of other birds and pets, but I am not a jealous birdy and could live with other feathered companions.

So, if you're looking for a feathered friend who will brighten your days with quiet companionship and endless love, look no further. I'm here, waiting for that special someone to give me the forever home I deserve. Could it be you?

With hopeful chirps,

Lucy
