My name is Mr Parrot – but you can call me Mr P for short – and I am a handsome young Orange Winged Amazon looking for a loving family to give me a forever home.
I’m around 8 years old, but in those few short years I’ve been through quite a lot of upheaval and trauma, and never had a chance to settle down. When I came to the safehouse I live in at the moment I was a little underweight and quite fearful of people, but since I’ve been here my safehouse mum & dad have been feeding me all sorts of nice food and given me lovely new toys, so I’m starting to think humans are actually quite nice sometimes! I especially like my safehouse dad and like to sit on his shoulder whilst he talks to me gently. I like women sometimes too though – just depends how I’m feeling at the time! Please don’t take it personally if I get a bit defensive either – I just still get a bit scared sometimes. I have lived with other birds and dogs so I can tolerate them but I like to be in a calm environment so I think a house with maybe just one or two other pets would be better. I think I’d quite like another birdie like me who could keep me company. I don’t live with any children right now, but I have in the past and we didn’t really get on. I think I would get on better with older children or teenagers who can understand and respect my boundaries – I don’t want to be poked and prodded all the time!
I love nuts and enjoy fruit and veg, even if it doesn’t seem like it sometimes because I throw it on the floor and play with my food bowl instead! Hey, I’m just being a parrot! I love birdie biscuits and toast, I also get a lovely warm Aloe Vera spray shower every few days and lots of beauty sleep to keep me looking so handsome. I just want a home where I’m going to be given lots of TLC – doesn’t everyone? I don’t mind if it’s with a single person, couple, family, whatever – if I get plenty of company & interaction.
I’m a lovely bird once you get to know me – and I do enjoy a nice soft head rub when I’m in the mood. I like to come out of my cage every day for a wander, but I promise I’ll be well behaved and not go too far or destroy things. I might start to shout when you leave me alone, but only because I miss you! I’ll be your best friend when you’re eating and tell you I’m a good boy and whistle until you share your snacks with me. I’ve got a great sense of humour too and like to have a good laugh at funny cartoons, and I’ll give a big sigh to let you know when I’m content.
I know you’ll love me once I get a chance to settle in. Could you give me the forever home I deserve?
