Hello. My name is Bob. I've had a complicated life. My original owner passed away, and I spent the best part of a decade alone in my cage. As a result, I'm looking for a confident, experienced owner because I can be unpredictable. Sometimes I'll offer you my foot to step up willingly, other times I might lunge. The trick is to read my signals, take it slowly, and if I'm not in the mood, walk away and try again later. A spare perch to encourage me to step up works a treat. I've come a long way, but I need someone patient enough to let me do things on my own terms.

I need a home where I'm the only bird because I don't get along with other birds at all. I can share a room with birds as long as they stay well away from me. Children and dogs don't bother me at all (I'm in my cage if a dog is around of course), but if anyone gets too close without an invitation, I will let them know about it, so supervision and boundaries are a must.

I'm not a cuddly bird, but when I feel comfortable, I will offer you my head for a stroke. I can also wear a harness, which I tolerate just fine. I say a few words, though my favourite thing to say is my own name, loudly and repeatedly. I'm not bothered by loud noises, which makes me fine in a busy household.

What I do need is company. I get anxious if I can't see my people, and I'll shout either my name or flock call until I settle, which can take a little while. Leaving the TV or radio on when you go out makes a real difference to me. I love to forage and I'll happily entertain myself with toilet rolls, till receipt paper, or anything I can take apart. I also enjoy redecorating - door frames, skirting boards, and walls are particular favourites, so please supervise me when I'm out of my cage.

Years in a cage without exercise damaged my left wing, and I'm unable to fully open it or take flight. However, I am perfectly happy sitting on a stand with plenty of foraging toys around me, and I do love to show off my Twizzle - where I put my head between my legs and spread my wings.

My main carer was male, and I seem to take to men more naturally but I can get along well with women too. I'm used to a busy household with different animals, cage time, and background noise. If you're willing to earn my trust at my pace, I am an absolute joy when I feel safe and content. Could you be my forever home?
